Over the years I put in many flower beds around the farm. Then as the work became more and with each passing year the ground seemed to be farther away each time I had to pull a weed or move a rock, we started taking out garden spots turning them back to grass.
However, this year I have been looking at a stump from a tree we lost last summer. Good place for a flower bed? Hmmm…would sure look nicer than just a stump! Since I happen to be married to a farmer with a tractor, dirt pile and junk pile…I had an idea.
Of course, this morning, my day off, I was awakened early to get up, come outside and help with the tractor and large iron ring that I spotted in the junk pile. I had to help set it in the fresh dirt pile that was dumped around the stump recently…and now, I’m well on the way to a unique flower garden made from something that was once used on the farm.
Here is the beginning…keep watching and see what evolves as I work this into an interesting and colorful spot in my yard…rather than an annoying stump to mow around…
See you back her for an update in a week or so. Bring a glass of tea and stay a while!
