As the flowers continue to grow and show their colors in my new flower bed, the back side of this large rusty rim is coming to life as well. The row of the Mammoth Sunflower Seeds I tucked in the ground has sprouted and are growing nicely. These lovely green leafy stems will continue to reach for the sun until they stand 10 foot tall, … yes, 10 foot, I exaggerate not….the heads the size of our own will be looking down at the neighboring blooms below.
If the rust and junk still don’t appeal, let me give you a tour of some of my other garden spots. I love to take things that started out as part of the farm and incorporate them in my surroundings. An old iron cattle gate by the dinner bell, the pump by a vintage gate that sports climates by the entryway to a patio made from chunks of concrete that were once the floor of a chicken house.
Then there’s the slab of concrete that was brought around with the tractor, dangling from the bucket, held by a chain, once part of a now vacant feed bunk. Placing it on two concrete blocks, it makes a perfect bench to sit on and take in the view.
Stop by again, there’s more to show, just wait until you see the arbor we built from old beams with a floor made of silo staves from one of the 85’ silos that once held feed for the cattle.
I enjoy creating the gardens and feel that I, too am contributing to what someday, someone will say, “Look at all this junk in the yard, and how on earth did she get it here!”
Little did they know, early years, I learned to drive the tractor!!!
Thanks for stopping by! Please, leave me a comment, I would love to know you were here and thank you for visiting!
