ELIZA’S STAIRWAY TO EVERYWHERE

June 13, 2017December 17, 2020 By Deb Obermeier

Imagine the magic this lovely stairway to everywhere must hold!

It is where Eliza stops every morning on the way down to her shop, glancing out the window to welcome the day. A Simple Stitch, her charming shop is waiting for her. She opened it some years ago when she returned to her hometown. She greets customers from near and far, always has a pot of coffee ready, loves to share a story with all who will listen, as she reflects, with pride, the importance of following your heart.

It is where she stops every evening on the way up to her apartment to give thanks for another day of doing what she loves. Restored to its original glory, it is now filled with heirlooms, antiques and finds that all tell a story. It’s where Eliza finds comfort and rest. At the top of the stairs hangs the portrait of Mimzie, her grandma that raised her and instilled in her the ways and wisdom in which she lives. It is her passion to share the stories and teach those that God puts on her path, bringing about a better life for everyone.

We may not all have a stairway to everywhere, but if we listen to our hearts, we all have the power within to see our dreams come true. Keep your eyes open for your “Stairway to Everywhere,” it may be just around the next corner!

I live on a farm in Southern Illinois with my husband. We have a blended family of five married children and twenty grandchildren. I have been blessed with being the middle generation of a five- generation family for over twenty years. Living in our century old, twelve room farmhouse filled with antiques and family history, my dream of having an Inn gets less with each passing year. The next season of my life is quickly approaching, and I welcome the challenges, ready to follow my heart and make my dream my goal. I want to write. With that said, I look forward to pouring out as many books, articles and any other bits of information God guides these nimble fingers to produce. I imagine my future spent in a comfy chair with just enough sun to warm me, but not so much glare that I cannot see. This will allow me to write about all of the dreams I had through the years but no longer have the energy or desire to carry out, creating characters that are as charming to my readers as they are company to me while I tell their stories. I live a simple, but very blessed life.
