So, who remembers this April when I had the rusty rim placed around the tree stump and told you to watch what happens? That evolved into more photos and waiting for ‘SUNSHINE ON A STEM,’ tracking the progress of this new little garden.
It’s exciting, watching as everything continues to grow. The colors getting bolder, leaves fuller and slowly the rusty rim is less noticeable with each passing week. I thought if I stepped in, you could measure the sunflower to me, and of course, Mikey wants in the picture, too!
A few more weeks and now, it’s what we have all been waiting for….the first bloom…opening up, nearly 10’ high! Soon to be massive as the seeds fill out the weight will have it looking down on the flowers below…watching over them as it dries out and is harvested.
This winter, when the Cardinals are scratching around looking for something to eat, their bright red feathers against the first snowfall, I can take one of these magnificent heads outside, lay it on the table by my swing and watch them flock to it, enjoying the bounty seed by seed…
Which brings me to this…it all started from one seed. Look at how small and insignificant one sunflower seed is. In God’s eyes, we are just like this sunflower seed. He nurtures us, feeds us, keeps us warm and watches us grow into the person He put us here to be. Keep focused on the bounty your life will produce. In God’s eyes, we are each unique, amazing and a work in progress…
